Funeral for former police chief on Tuesday

TOWN OF ULSTER – Former
Town of Ulster Police Chief Anthony Cruise will be laid to rest following
a funeral service on Tuesday.

Cruise, 48, died on Thursday, December 8 after battling cancer.

The funeral for the beloved family man and police chief will be held at
11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Mount Academy in Esopus followed by burial
in Saint Ann’s Cemetery in Sawkill.
Cruise began his law enforcement career working as a corrections officer
for the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office in May 1988. In August of
the following year, he became a deputy sheriff and in May 1992, he was
hired by the Town of Ulster Police Department.

In November 2002, he was promoted to detective and rose through the ranks
until he was promoted to police chief in October 2012. He held that post
until his retirement in November 2015.

Cruise is survived by his wife, Christa, his daughter, Ashley, son, Jesse,
grandson, Emery Cruise and other family members.
