PLATTEKILL – A Plattekill woman is charged with nine counts of failure to provide proper sustenance and nine counts of failure to provide food and drink to an impounded animal, all misdemeanors.
The Ulster County SPCA Humane Law Investigations Division and State Police
arrested Marianna Greco, 59, for allegedly subjecting the animals to an
unhealthy environment caused by the presence of large amounts of animal
waste, garbage and debris.
SPCA investigator Nathan Webster arrested Greco following a two-month investigation. She was given an appearance ticket returnable to town court.
“Sadly, arrest and seizure are blunt instruments, but so often they are the only tool we have to save animals from otherwise well-meaning people,” said SPCA Executive Director Adam Saunders. “I hope Ms. Greco can pull her life together, moving forward.”
The animals seized, five dogs and four cats, are being housed in the SPCA’s Kingston shelter.
