Teenager killed in two-car crash

KINDERHOOK – A 13-year-old
rear seat passenger in a car involved in a two-car crash in the Town of
Kinderhook was killed in an accident on Route 9 at the intersection of
Columbia County Route 28 in the Town of Kinderhook. The child’s
name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
State Police investigated the 10:30 p.m. accident Thursday.
Troopers said a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek being driven by Judith Gagliardi,
74, of Chatham was driving southbound on Route 9 making a left turn onto
County Route 28 when it collided with a 2004 Honda Civic going northbound
being driven by Donna Preuss, 27, of Philmont.
A passenger in the Gagliardi vehicle, Preuss and two other passengers
in her car were all transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment
of injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, but police said there is no
indication either driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Police are attempting to determine if the passengers in both vehicles
were wearing seatbelts.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call State Police
at the Livingston barracks at 518-851-2001.

State Police and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were assisted
at the scene by fire departments from Niverville, Valatie and South Schodack,
as well as rescue squads from Valatie, Greenport and Chatham. The Columbia
County Fire and EMS coordinators also assisted at the scene.
