NEW YORK – Cornwall native son, retired General David Petraeus, a former CIA Director, met on Monday with President-elect Donald Trump about a possible cabinet level appointment.  He is reportedly being considered for secretary of state
Petraeus, who graduated from U.S. Military Academy at West Point and has returned to Orange County several times in recent years, pled guilty to criminal charges and resigned over a sex scandal with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.  It was alleged that Petraeus has given Broadwell classified information to which she was not entitled.
The Associated Press reported Monday that case is under investigation by federal authorities and could cloud Petraeus’ chances for a Trump appointment.
Petraeus is one of at least three said to be under consideration for State.  Others are former NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
