Traffic stop yields pot, cash

SAUGERTIES – Members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the seizure of an excess of $27,000 in United States currency following a traffic stop in the Town of Saugerties.
On November 17th, 2016 at approximately 11:00 a.m., Deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 9W in the Town of Saugerties for an equipment violation.  Further investigation revealed the occupants to be in possession of large amount of U.S. Currency (in excess of $27,000) and a quantity of marijuana.
The driver, Kenneth Parks, 30, of Poughkeepsie, and the passenger, Florence Algarin, 37, of Kingston, were released on appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court. 
Deputies were assisted by members of Homeland Security Investigations.
