NEWBURGH – Newburgh area
residents who want to have their blood tested to determine if they have
any health issues related to the contamination of the city’s water
supply may do so tomorrow (Saturday), but tht will not be the last day.
Voluntary blood testing will be held at Cornerstone Family Health Care,
147 Lake Street in Newburgh.
The State Health Department, which agreed to pay for the testing of anyone
who requested it, is working out additional dates to continue offering
the testing with Cornerstone.
The State Health Department agreed to pay for the testing of anyone who wished to have it done after the carcinogenic chemical PFOS was found in Washington Lake, the city’s reservoir.
Since the determination of contamination of the lake, Newburgh has been tapping the New York City Catskill Aqueduct for its drinking water.
