TOWN OF GOSHEN – By a unanimous vote, the Town of Goshen Planning Board accepted the Legoland draft environmental impact statement for review Thursday night.
A public hearing on the plan will be held on December 15.
The company wants to build a $500 million theme park off Route 17 exit 125 on Harriman Drive and must provide evidence that all of the environmental concerns facing the project – including traffic, noise, visual impacts and other issues – are addressed adequately.
Several residents of the Goshen area oppose the project maintaining it will destroy the nature of the community. Company officials say it will have nothing but positive impacts in terms of millions of dollars in economic benefits and jobs for residents.
