ESOPUS – Two women were arrested early Friday morning by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies following an altercation.
Deputies were called to a report of a fight on Canal Street in Port Ewen and learned the dispute was related to an earlier argument in the Town of Saugerties involving the theft of an electronic device.
Police said Sierra Junquet, 18, of Port Ewen and Ariana Schatzel-Relyea, 19, of Kingston drove a vehicle while the victim’s arm was entangled in the window, dragging the victim. They attempted to spray the victim with pepper spray. Junquet was also charged with striking another victim in the face several times, breaking the person’s nose.
Police did not say if the victims were male or female.
Schatzel-Relyea was charged with reckless endangerment, petit larceny, conspiracy and possession of a noxious material.
Junquet was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy.
Both women were sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $9,000 bond. An order of protection was issued on behalf of both victims.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by State Police and the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
