HYDE PARK – A male driver was killed Wednesday afternoon when his
vehicle ran off Route 9 between Scenic Drive and Ledges Driver, truck
a wall and tree, Hyde Park Town Police said. The car caught fire.
The driver was alone in the vehicle.
Preliminary identification of the victim was made through the crash investigation;
however, his identification is being withheld pending a final determination
by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Hyde Park and Fairview Fire Departments initially responded and extinguished
the fire and the Roosevelt Fire Department responded to assist with the
recovery of the driver.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and their CRASH team for accident
reconstruction as well as the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s
Office investigated the accident.
