NEWBURGH – Counselors are on hand at the Newburgh Enlarged City School District to support students, families and district staff following the early Sunday shooting deaths of two young women at a Halloween party on Lower Broadway in Newburgh.
Tabitha Cruz, 20, and Omani Free, 18, both of the City of Newburgh, were
killed at about 12:45 a.m. during a party at 119 Broadway. Free was a
senior at the school.
As police continue to investigate, the school district released a statement Monday saying it “joins with the Newburgh community as we mourn the loss of two young lives lost in a tragic shooting early Sunday morning. In addition, countless other lives were forever altered in this senseless act of violence.”
