GOSHEN – Construction workers rebuilding the Orange County Government Center in Goshen have reached another milestone as steelworkers and county officials held a “topping out” ceremony on Friday.   That is when the last piece of structural steel is hoisted into place, but not before everyone used giant magic markers to sign their names on the beam.

The government center has been closed for some five years after flooding and mold problems raised a red flag.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus said this time next year county employees will be moving back in.
“They are on time and a year from now we will start to put in departments that used to be in the government center, so in a year from now, you will see them phased in,” Neuhaus said.
The government center is in three sections; the center one was demolished with a new one being constructed in its place.
While the government center has been closed, county officials have relocated in other county-owned buildings and rented space.
