NEW CITY – A 37-year-old Spring Valley man has been arrested for
allegedly submitted a phony document claiming that he had performed several
hours of court-ordered community service as required for a previous court
sentence.

Sidney Lemoine of 61 Robert Pitt Drive was charged with criminal possession
of a forged instrument as a felony, said Rockland District Attorney Thomas
Zugibe.

It is alleged that he filed a letter with the Clarkstown Justice Court
confirming that he had completed required community service through a
local non-profit organization and it is alleged that he never performed
that work.

“Community service is an important obligation for those sentenced
to complete it,” said Zugibe. “Faking it is a serious crime
that often leads to criminal consequences and longer sentences.”

Lemoine was arrested by detectives with the Rockland County DA’s
Office Special Investigations Unit.

He is scheduled to reappear in town court early next month.
