Basement fire in Arlington commercial building

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Arlington firefighters made quick work of a basement fire in the American Heating and Cooling facility at 1103 Dutchess Turnpike in the Town of Poughkeepsie just before 7:30 Friday morning.
Employees in the building at the time of the fire got out without injuries. The structure and contents sustained minor damages.
Assisting at the two-alarm fire were City of Poughkeepsie and LaGrange fire departments, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Building Department and Water Department and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.  Pleasant Valley and New Hamburg fire departments were on standby along with Mobile Life Support Services.
The fire was investigated and determined to have been accidentally caused by sparks from cutting equipment, said Arlington Chief Tory Gallante.
