MOUNT VERNON – Four persons have been arrested on charges of narcotics conspiracy in an investigation in Mount Vernon conducted by the FBI, Mount Vernon Police and Westchester County Police.
Since May, the agencies have been investigating a narcotics trafficking operation using surveillance, wiretaps and fieldwork.
Arrested were Corey Marrow, Kraig Utley, Ronald Hechevarria, and Julien Rene. They are all facing charges of conspiracy related to the sale and distribution of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine. Marrow and Utley are believed to have been the leaders of the trafficking operation, directing individuals in the selling of illicit street drugs.  The charges maintain they have been selling and distributing drugs in Mount Vernon since at least November 2014. The investigation is continuing.
Mayor Richard Thomas said the city has not backed down in its investigations of drug dealing in the city. “It’s a new day in Mount Vernon. We are focusing on moving the city forward and providing pathways to a bright future for our young people.”
Thomas said the city is committed to increasing public safety, adding back positions in the police department, repairing city parks and turning streetlights back on.
