SAUGERTIES – Hundreds of law enforcement officers paid their respects to Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kerry Winters, Sr. who died while participating in a diving exercise at the Ashokan Reservoir on September 22. He was 51.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church on Glasco Turnpike in Glasco.
Hundreds, possibly thousands, of police officers from across the state and region are expected to honor the man who was with the sheriff’s office for 30 years.
Winters will be interned in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery in Barclay Heights.
The cause of Winters’ death remains under investigation.
