TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A man, who was blowing leaves on Pressler Road
near his home in the Town of Newburgh on Saturday afternoon was struck
and killed by a passing car.
The victim was identified as Michael Jordan, Jr., 69, who lived not far
from the accident.
Police Chief Bruce Campbell said a Toyota Avalon driven by an 86-year-old
man struck Jordan, who died after being transported to St. Luke’s
Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.
The man drove off and went to his son-in-law to report he thought he hit
a deer. Campbell said when the son-in-law went back to the scene and saw
police activity, he reported it to them.
No charges have been filed against the driver and Campbell does not expect
any in the future.
