GOSHEN – Two Orange County men have been sentenced in county court to state prison term in separate felony weapon possession cases.
James Youngberg, 47, of Wallkill and Ulee Johnson, 17, of the City of Newburgh, were each convicted following jury trials.
Youngberg was convicted of criminal possession of a weapon and other charges in connection with his possession of a loaded firearm that he pointed at another person. He was sentenced by County Court Judge Edward McLoughlin to 13 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.  On January 2, 2015, after Youngberg had been drinking for about three hours, a dispute erupted between the victim and himself. He approached the victim with a pistol in his outstretched hand. The victim grabbed the weapon and Youngberg fled. He was proven to be the owner of the gun because his DNA was found on the three bullets in the pistol’s magazine.
Johnson had been convicted of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence and menacing following a jury trial. Judge McLoughlin sentenced Johnson to seven years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.  Johnson had threatened a man near City Terrace and First Street in Newburgh with a resolve, which Johnson thought was loaded and which would fire, but the ammunition was defective.
“Our county will be safer while these two defendants are in state prison,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
