HYDE PARK – The athletic director at the Hyde Park Central School District and her husband have been arrested and charged with stealing a large amount of property from the school district. Town Police Chief Eric Paolilli said the property, including some expensive exercise equipment, was worth in excess of $50,000.
Hyde Park Town Police arrested Amy McArdle-Rausenberger, 41, and Scott Rausenberger, 36, both living at 567 Grand Avenue in the Town of Newburgh. Both were charged with felony grand larceny and are in the Dutchess County Jail.
Hyde Park and State Police executed a search warrant at their residence and recovered the stolen property in both the home and a detached garage where Scott Rausenberger operated a triathlon and fitness training company called “Go Fast Get Fit.”
The investigation is continuing.
Hyde Park Superintendent Dr. Greer Rychcik said Amy McArdle-Rausenberger has been on family leave since August 2 and an interim athletic director has been in that post since then.
To Rychcik’s knowledge, this is the first time that large amounts of property have been stolen from the school district.
