Sharon Hospital to join Health Quest group

SHARON, CT – Sharon Hospital, just over the state line from Dutchess
County in Connecticut, is going to join the Health Quest family, officials
announced Thursday.

A certificate of need is being sought from the Connecticut State Health
Department.

The 78-bed Sharon Hospital has been a for-profit entity since 2002, but
will return to non-profit status when Health Quest assumes control.

The acquisition “offers tremendous benefits to our patients,”
said Peter Cordeau, CEO of Sharon Hospital, which is currently part of
Essent Healthcare of Connecticut. The hospital provides emergency, orthopedics,
cardiac and geriatric behavioral medicine, as well as obstetrics and general
surgery services.

When approved, Sharon will be the fourth hospital in the Health Quest
organization, joining flagship Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie,
Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Putnam Hospital Center in
Carmel.

The Foundation for Community Health in Sharon played a significant role
in bringing the two hospital groups together. The foundation will work
with Sharon Hospital and Health Quest to engage the community in the discussion
of services and available resources to support future growth opportunities.
