“Molly” being sought as possible witness

GREENPORT – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is trying
to learn the identity of a woman who is a potential witness in the Halle
Schmidt missing person/death investigation.

The unidentified woman is described as being white, in her early to mid-20s,
of unknown height and weight, but is believed to be of thin build.

She may go by the name of “Molly.” Police said she has blonde
hair, which may or may not be in a bun.

She may be from the Troy/Cohoes area.

Police said it is believed she was picked up at the Dinosaur Barbeque

and brought to the Greenport/Hudson area.

Information received during the investigation also indicates she may be
estranged from her family. The information may not be able to be verified,
investigators said.

Anyone with information about the possible witness is asked to call the
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Branch at
