Pedestrian struck and killed on Ulster road; driver charged with vehicular manslaughter

TOWN OF ULSTER – An Olivebridge man has been charged with vehicular
manslaughter and aggravated DWI following an accident where a pedestrian
was struck and killed.

Town of Ulster Police said Raymond Williams, 50, of Kingston, was struck
as he was crossing Route 28. He did not make it completely across when
he was struck by a vehicle driven by Raymond Schultis, 32, of Olivebridge.

Police said Schultis was driving in an intoxicated condition and was taken
into custody. The DWI charge stems from a blood alcohol content of over
.18 percent.

Schultis was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu
of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Route 28 was closed for six hours during investigation.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted by the Ulster County District
Attorney’s Office, State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office,
Ulster Hose Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services.
