TOWN OF WALLKILL – A one-car crash on the I-84 westbound ramp at
exit 4W this morning resulted in the death of one of the two people in
the vehicle. The accident occurred around 6:40 a.m.
A two-car crash on Route 17K in the Town of Montgomery Monday evening
resulted in the death of an 87-year-old man, State Police said.
Trooper Steven Neville said a car driven by a 16-year-old female was traveling
on Route 17K around 6:22 p.m. when she crossed lanes and struck a vehicle
driven by an 85-year-old woman.
An 87-year-old male passenger in her car was taken to St. Luke’s
Cornwall Hospital’s Newburgh campus where he died, Neville said.
The driver was listed in stable condition at Orange Regional Medical Center
in Wallkill.
Neville said it appears that sun glare may have been the cause of the
teenage driver crossing lanes.
Town of Montgomery Police assisted in that investigation.
