KENT – Some 75 members of the Explorers division of the Boy Scouts learned the art of firefighting and other emergency services functions at the annual Putnam County training and campout weekend at the county fire training center in Kent.
The boys and girls, ages 14 to 18, came from Explorer groups in Putnam, Dutchess, Westchester and Rockland as well as posts in Albany and Nassau counties. The future first responders learned basic firefighting and first aid skills as well as long lasting friendships.
It was the 15th year the training has been held.
