Traffic stop yields five arrests on gun charges

POUGHKEEPSIE – Five men are under arrest following a traffic stop
in the area of 190 Mill Street in Poughkeepsie around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

City Police found a small amount of marijuana and two loaded handguns
in the Ford Mustang. Those guns bring the total of guns seized this year
in the City of Poughkeepsie to 23.

Charged with two counts each of criminal possession of a weapon as felonies
wee Michael Azua, 19; Zaire Birks, 16; Rayshawn Casanova, 20; Isaiah Douglas,
17; and Shaquan Perrin, 18, all Poughkeepsie city residents..

All five were arraigned and committed to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu
of bail — $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond for Azua; $25,000 cash or $50,000
bond for Birks; $50,000 bail or $100,000 bail for Douglass and for Perrin;
and $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond for Casanova.
