Middletown police officer hopes that’s warm water in the dunking tank

MIDDLETOWN – The National Night Out festivities in Middletown Tuesday evening included hamburgers, ice cream, a dunking tank for police officers, a K-9 demonstration and inflatable rides for the kids.
Fancher Davidge Park was bustling with parents and young people and Police
Chief Ray Bethencourt had a message for everyone.
“I want you to find a police officer, someone who you have never met before and I want you to go over, get their name, and have a conversation with them,” Bethencourt said. “I want you, and I want them, to have better communication.”
Alderwoman Kate Ramkissoon, who coordinated the Night Out activities, echoed the chief’s sentiments.
“Tonight it is all about building that relationship between our officers and our community,” Ramkissoon said.
Similar Night Out events were held across the Hudson Valley including in Greenwood Lake and Poughkeepsie.
