Gottlieb: “… a lot of positive feelings about business …”

NEWBURGH – Most businesses surveyed in the Hudson Valley feel positive about their potential for growth, according to the latest snapshot survey conducted by the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation.
With that said, though, businesses often feel held back by the caliber of the workforce for their needs, said HVEDC President Larry Gottlieb.
“Overall, there is still a lot of positive feelings about business in the Hudson Valley,” he said. “There is still a feeling that revenues will increase, but we do see that bit of a dark cloud in terms of workforce development, having the right workforce to let these businesses expand to the level that they want to expand.”
The annual survey was conducted recently with just under 200 businesses responding. Most of those are smaller enterprises, “the fabric” of the region, said Gottlieb.
