Poughkeepsie Police investigate shootings

POUGHKEEPSIE – City Police in Poughkeepsie are continuing to investigate
two shootings.

The victim of a late Sunday night shooting, a 21-year-old Poughkeepsie man,
was shot twice in both legs and taken to a local hospital where he underwent
surgery for non-life threatening wounds.

The victim told police he did not know who shot him, but police said investigation
indicates he was the intended target.

A total of 12 shell casings were recovered at the scene in the area of Maple
Street and North Cherry Street.

Anyone with information on the 11:15 p.m. shooting on June 19 is asked to
call City Police at 845-451-7577.

Late in the afternoon on Tuesday, police investigated another shooting in
the area of Hulme Park. Officers located a 23-yer-old city resident at 12
Noxon Street, who had been shot in the lower right leg. He was transported
to a local hospital for surgery for a non-life threatening wound.

The victim told investigators he did not know who shot him, however, investigation
leads police to believe he was also the intended victim.

Eight shell casings were recovered from the scene.
