HUDSON – A White Plains woman, who worked as a receptionist for
a nursing home in Columbia County, was sentenced to six months in jail
and five years of probation for cashing several forged checks drawn on
the business.

Claire Wieland, 28, pled guilty in Columbia County Court to criminal possession
of a forged instrument as a felony for cashing the checks drawn on the
Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Funds Account.

She admitted in court that between April 24, 2013 and February 6, 2014,
while working as a receptionist, she withdrew funds from the nursing home
by forging the endorsements of the payees on the checks. She also admitted
she cashed the checks and kept the money.

A news release from State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman did not state
the amount of funds that Wieland pocketed.
