KINGSTON – Mayor Steven
Noble is putting together a team of Kingston city administrators, fire
department and codes employees to assembly a top ten worst list of multiple
rental apartment houses and crack down on them.
The mayor said poorly maintained housing brings down a neighborhood and the city wants to put an end to that.
“Each week we will be grabbing everyone together as a task force and going and inspecting these houses that have issues, these multi-family units – that have issues, and we are going to be going after the landlords and owners of these buildings that are letting them become a draw on the neighborhood,” Noble said.
Following the most recent large drug bust in Newburgh, officials in that city announced a similar program of cracking down on multi-unit housing that has been left to deteriorate.
