Builders Blitz Chairman Andy Stahl, left, welcomes Ignacio Acevedo
to his new home

NEWBURGH – Habitat Newburgh’s fifth Home Builders Blitz culminated
on Saturday when the keys to a new home were turned over on Saturday to
the Acevedo family, which will purchase the three-story mixed-use residence.

Over 500 volunteers worked for five days to construct the home at 123
Washington Street, which will also be used for Ignacio Acevedo’s
photography business. “I can’t believe that I got to see our
house being built in a week,” he said. “It felt like I was
dreaming with my eyes open.”

Andy Stahl, chairman of the Newburgh Habitat Home Builders Blitz Committee,
said the project is “my favorite part of my career and my third
Home Builders Blitz.” He called it “incredibly rewarding.”

Habitat Executive Director Cathy Collins said she was “deeply touched
and extraordinarily grateful to all of the people who contributed in so
many different ways to make this Live/Work home I always imagined on this
lot come to life.”
