ALBANY – State Police Lt. Col. George Beach of Ulster was confirmed
as the new superintendent on Thursday. He replaces Joseph D’Amico,
who retired last week.

“After meeting with Lt. Col. Beach and discussing his extensive
accomplishments within the ranks of the State Police, I have great confidence
that he has the experience, courage and conviction to excel in this new
role,” said Senator George Amedore.
“Our State Police are at the front lines of keeping our communities
safe throughout the State of New York, and I want to take this opportunity
to congratulate Lt. Colonel George Beach, but more importantly, thank
him for continuing his public service by taking on his ambitious challenge.
I am sure he will continue to protect and serve with great honor and distinction.”

During his career, Beach was a captain in Troop F on the west Side of
the Hudson River and was commander of Troop T on the Thruway.
