NEWBURGH – Law enforcement from several agencies in Orange County,
supported by police helicopter aerial surveillance, conducted daytime
drug and weapons raids on First Street in the area of City Terrace on
Tuesday.

This is the latest of an ongoing number of raids on street gangs in the
city whose members have been involved in shootings, robberies, intimidation
and drug dealing.

Heavily armed City of Newburgh Police, State Police and the Orange County
Sheriff’s deputies and investigators from the Orange County District
Attorney’s Office were involved in the raids in which at least 15
people were arrested.

Other agencies involved in the arrests were Town of Newburgh, Middletown
City and New Windsor Police, as well as the Westchester County Drug Enforcement
Task Force.

District Attorney David Hoovler said details of the raids and arrests
will be released on Wednesday. Seized were drugs, cash and other items.

Just last Wednesday, June 1, the FBI led a contingent of police to arrest
several suspected drug dealers in Newburgh and authorities continue to
keep the heat on gang violence and those who perpetrate it.
