Newburgh shooting suspect arrested

NEWBURGH – A man was arrested by Newburgh City Police in connection with a shooting that took place on May 21 at 778 Broadway.
Members of the Anti-Crime Unit spotted Skyler Davis, 19, of Newburgh sitting on the steps of 295 Liberty Street and when he saw the officers, he fled into the building.  With the assistance of patrol officers, Davis was located in a vacant apartment on the third floor and taken into custody without incident.      
After his arrest, police recovered 30 decks of heroin, 5.8 grams of marijuana, drug packaging material and a digital scale, all from the apartment.
Davis was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, both as felonies stemming from the shooting at 778 Broadway and criminal possession of a controlled substance as a felony and misdemeanor, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana.
