Hudson Valley SPCA rescues 19 cats from home with no electricity or water

NEW WINDSOR – Authorities wearing respirators rescued 19 cats from a residence at 3 Elm Street in New Windsor on May 27. There was no electricity or running water in the house. The floor was covered in urine and feces contributing to the deteriorated medical condition of the animals.
One arrest was made charging the occupant of the home with failure to provide proper sustenance to the animals. The individual’s name was not made public.
The situation was uncovered when the Humane Law Enforcement Division of the Hudson Valley SPCA, New Windsor Town Police and town Building and Animal Control departments executed a search warrant at the residence.
