Rendering of planned addition
POUGHKEEPSIE – With little discussion, the Poughkeepsie Planning Board, meeting in special session, voted unanimously to grant conditional site plan approval for a major addition to Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
The board also unanimously approved a special use permit with one additional stipulation, that outside oxygen tanks be hidden from view behind vegetation. Even though the VBMC complex is in an area zoned for hospital/medical, each project still requires specific approval.
Vassar’s parent company, Health Quest, is planning a $466 million
project that will include 264 medical/surgical patient rooms, 30 critical
care rooms, an emergency department/trauma center with 66 treatment rooms,
new operating rooms, a cafeteria and conference center.
