Who killed Sherri Orofino
remains a mystery 29
years later

POUGHKEEPSIE – It has been 29 years since Sherri Orofino of Millbrook
disappeared on her way home from Bayside, Queens where she had been visiting
a friend.

That was on March 1, 1987 when she left at 3 a.m. driving a black 1987
Toyota MR-2.

On March 3, her husband called State Police to report she had not arrived
home. During the course of investigation, Mrs. Orofino’s abandoned
car was located by Yorktown Police off the Taconic State Parkway on Route
134 in the Town of Yorktown.

Six months after her disappearance, on August 9, 1987, her skeletal remains
were found scattered in a densely-wooded area near the Croton Reservoir.
Her body has decomposed and no apparent cause of death could be determined.

She was a white woman, with long blonde hair and weighted about 110 pounds.
She was last seen wearing a yellow blouse over a black tank top, black
jeans and a black jacket.

State Police continue to actively investigate Mrs. Orofino’s death.
Several leads have been investigated, but the homicide remains unsolved.

Investigators continue to comb the Croton Reservoir area searching for
clues that may bring closure to the family.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Investigator
