PORT JERVIS – Two Port Jervis men are in jail after they allegedly kicked in an apartment door of a man with whom they had an ongoing dispute, threatened him with a switchblade know and deployed pepper spray before they fled the scene. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. on Friday.
Steven Conklin, 32, of 35 Hudson Street and James Degroat Jr., 27, of 64 West Main Street, went to the victim’s residence at 29 Culvert Street with the intent to confront him in an ongoing dispute.
Police investigated and arrested the men, who were charged with felony burglary and misdemeanors of menacing and criminal mischief. Degroat was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a noxious material – the pepper spray.
Conklin is in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.   Degroat’s bail was set at $10,000.
