MONTEBELLO – An 83-year-old woman was killed as she was attempting
to cross Route 202 in the Village of Montebello after checking her mail
about 3 p.m. Monday.
Ramapo Town Police said the woman, whose name they did not make public,
was struck by a 2003 Hyundai heading westbound. The driver of the car
was a 21-year-old Monroe woman, who remained at the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Hatzolah
Ambulance with serious injuries and later died.
The accident is under investigation by the Ramapo Police Accident Investigation
Unit.
