Two-car crash leaves one person dead

MARBLETOWN – A passenger in a car was killed when the vehicle was
struck head-on by another vehicle that crossed into the opposite lane
of traffic on Route 209 in the Town of Marbletown.

State Police said a vehicle going northbound near the intersection of
Pine Tree Lane veered into the southbound lane striking the other car.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the Health Alliance Broadway
Campus emergency room where they were treated for non-life threatening
injuries and later transferred to Albany Medical Center.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the Health Alliance Broadway ER.

Police did not release the names of any of those involved in the crash.

A section of Route 209 between Old Route 209 and Marcott Road was closed
in both directions during the initial response and investigation.

No charges were filed and the investigation is continuing. Assisting at
the scene were the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Hurley
Fire Department, Town of Marbletown Fire Department and Rescue Squad,
Spring Lake Fire Department and Mobile Life paramedics.
