Police nab burglar after homeowner sees him flee

TOWN OF CRAWFORD – A man, who was spotted fleeing from a home in the Town of Crawford Sunday evening, was arrested a short time later by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies with a K-9 unit.
They were assisting Crawford Town Police, who were called to a report of a burglary in progress on Judson Road at 6:47 p.m.  The homeowner reported he returned home to find a car occupied by two men in his driveway and a third man coming out of the house. The vehicle took off and the man fled on foot.
Police located Vishwanand Sumair, 29, of Newburgh. Proceeds of the burglary were recovered.
Sumair was charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property and sent to the Orange County Jail without bail.
