One arrested, another being sought in attempted murder

NEWBURGH – City Police have one man in custody and are looking
for a second in connection with the severe beating of a man Wednesday
afternoon outside an apartment near 1 Lake Drive in Newburgh.

The victim is in the hospital. No weapons were used, police said.
Investigation quickly led detectives to arrest Kelsin Rivera, 30, of
Newburgh. He was charged with attempted murder. A second suspect, Richard
Vallejo, 28, also of Newburgh, is being sought in connection with the
beating. He is wanted by state Parole and the US Marshal’s Service
for a prior parole violation.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts or information about the
attack is urged to call Newburgh City Police at 845-561-3131.

The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the State Police
Major Crimes Unit and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
