WALKER VALLEY – It was
about 6:45 p.m. Saturday when Walker Valley firefighters were called to
the home of one of their own. The home of Allen and Denise Greer on Marl
Road was on fire leaving the couple and their three small boys homeless.

Both parents are “dedicated members” of the fire department,
said Ulster County Legislator Craig Lopez, who has set up a GoFundMe account
in hopes of raising at least $10,000. As of 7 p.m. Sunday over $10,000
was donated.

“The Greers are a special family in our community, longtime residents
of Walker Valley,” wrote Lopez. “I ask for your help and show
the support the Greers have sown our community for many, many years and
help get them back on their feet following the tragic loss of their home.”

Clothing donations for their sons may also be made in boys’ sizes
10-12, 14 and men’s medium.
