KINGSTON – An affiliation agreement between the HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston and Westchester Medical Center is going to take place before the summer, HealthAlliance President David Scarpino said Monday.
He said the partnership will be an affiliation, not a merger.
“We are, in principle done, and we are going to try to do it as quickly as we can,” Scarpino said. “We have been working on it in the background just waiting for the (state grant) to be announced, so we are pretty far along. It could be pretty quick.”
Scarpino said the deal will be different from Westchester Med’s purchase of the former St. Francis’ Hospital in Poughkeepsie and a different model than that which has WMC managing the Bon Secours hospitals.
He said it is more closely styled like the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital affiliation with the Montefiore Health System.
