WHITE PLAINS – A group of Westchester County legislators unveiled a series of environmental protection proposals on Monday designed to improve the county’s carbon footprint and find financial efficiencies where possible.
They include the “Regional Clean Air Act,” the “Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Implementation Bill,” and the “LED Lighting conversion Act.”
The Regional Clean Air Act would prevent the users of oil grade numbers four and six in any stationary combustion installation in the county. Legislator Catherine Parker said the use of those oils contributes to asthma attacks as well as heart and lung disease over an extended period of time.
The Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Implementation Bill would require new or renovated parking lots to designate certain percentages of spots for electric charging stations.
The LED Lighting Conversation Act would require the county to install
light emitting diode lights in all county owned facilities over the next
three years.
