NEWBURGH – Graffiti in Newburgh is most often of the gang-related variety, but that has changed with the spray painting of a swastika on a concrete barrier on Route 9W that is blocking off an unsafe bridge as you enter the city from New Windsor.
Mayor Judy Kennedy is totally disgusted by the insensitivity of the marking.
“When is it going to change for our world to finally figure out that hate doesn’t solve anything?,” the mayor asked. “It doesn’t help anything, it doesn’t move anything forward, it doesn’t change the world except for the worst. It actually makes me really sad that somebody thinks that that is the way to express yourself.”

Mayor Kennedy said if the DPW can’t get to it quickly, she will paint over the offensive image herself
