GOSHEN – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler told Orange County town supervisors and other elected municipal officials that he fully backs police agencies and he urged them to do the same.
Hoovler addressed the delegation this week while they attended the New York State Association of Counties conference in New York City.
The DA’s comments were prompted by what he said was a recent “spike” in police officer killings by gunfire nationwide and increased number of people resisting arrest, some violently, in Orange County.
“I adamantly support local law enforcement and that the [local officials] should do everything they can to speak out and support their local law enforcement and dispel some of the false narratives being spread about law enforcement in general,” he said.
Hoovler said policing a free society is one of the most difficult jobs there is.
