MONROE – Town Supervisor Harley Doles underwent heart surgery on Wednesday and is recuperating in the hospital.
“I will need a bit of time to recover, however, I will work myself back into my full-time commitment as your supervisor,” Doles wrote to residents of the Town of Monroe on Thursday.
He said he expects to be back on the job “on a daily basis by the end of February.”
Doles expressed his thanks to the town employees and elected officials “who stepped up to the plate to help keep Monroe humming.” During a leave of absence since December, Doles has communicated with town officials by e-mail on a regular basis.
Town Councilman Anthony Cardone has been serving as acting supervisor in Doles’ absence.
