South Carolina couple arrested for possessing loaded gun and marijuana

WOODBURY – A South Carolina couple was arrested following a traffic stop on the Thruway in Woodbury early last Saturday morning.  State Police clocked the car doing 97 in a 65 mph zone.
While troopers were interviewing the operator, Thomas Crudo, 22, of Conway, South Carolina, he took off leading the officers on a pursuit from the Thruway to Route 7. At exit 125 he lost control and struck a guiderail.
Both Crudo and his passenger, Alison Chapman, 21, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, fled on foot. Chapman was immediately apprehended and Crudo was located later by Middletown City Police.
Further investigation revealed a loaded .45 caliber pistol and approximately 147 grams of marijuana inside the car.
Crudo was charged with weapon possession and unlawful fleeing a police officer, both as felonies, criminal possession of marijuana as a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana. He is in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
Chapman was charged with felony possession of a weapon, misdemeanor marijuana possession and a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana.  She was committed in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
