KINDERHOOK – Political scientist Dr. Gerald Benjamin has endorsed John Faso for the Republican nomination for Congress in New York’s 19th District.
Benjamin, a former chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, called Faso, a former Republican Assembly leader from Kinderhook, “a person of great intelligence, energy and integrity with a deep commitment to public service.”
Benjamin, the head of the Benjamin Center for Public Policy Initiatives at SUNY New Paltz, said, “At a time of great disarray in Congress, massive decline in confidence in our institutions, and increased skepticism in general about government, we more than ever need experienced Congress members like John, people who have demonstrated the capacity to provide legislative leadership and get things done.”
Faso is seeking to fill the seat currently held by Rep. Christopher Gibson, who is retiring and the end of the year and is considering a 2018 run for governor.
