MONROE – Acting Monroe Town Supervisor Anthony Cardone disputed Supervisor Harley Doles’ contention that he was barred from town hall when he went there on Friday.
Doles has been out of work on personal or medical leave pending recovery from a medical procedure he will undergo on Wednesday. He went on that personal leave in December and said that when he went to town hall on Friday, the police were called in an attempted to keep him out.
But, Cardone said on Monday that is not the case. He was told by town employees that Doles showed up and became engaged in “an incident” with a town worker and as a result, Cardone felt it was necessary to call the police.
“There were unsafe work conditions that I felt had to be addressed and the only way to address something like that – something like this particular incident – was to call in the Village of Monroe Police Department,” Cardone said.
He conceded he does not expect any charges will be levied against Doles.
